Sonoma Pictures is an independent film and television company drawn to the families we are given, the debts we carry, and the choices that define us. We make character-first work, specific in its world and universal in its heart.

We build around a single, specific point of view and let it reach for something everyone can feel. Our slate runs from the crime drama Neon Affair to Dreams of My Mother, a feature in development about adoption, ancestry, and what family really means. We are drawn to stories where the people the world overlooks become the authors of their own lives.

Sonoma Pictures was founded by Marcus R. Smith, an award-winning writer, actor, and producer from Northern California. As an actor, Marcus has appeared in Americano (TIFF), Blue Bloods (CBS), and Inside Amy Schumer (Hulu). He has produced shorts and the feature Neon Affair, and writes and stars in Dreams of My Mother, now in development.
